Exciting news & performance change
Thanks for checking out my website!
I won’t be able to perform at the Four Corners gathering at the end of July/early August. But did pick up a fun local job as “sidegal” with Beth Williams (BethWilliamsMusic.com) on Saturday, August 2! See “shows” tab for details.
THE BIG NEWS! Not only is my first CD “Old Guitar” hanging in the top 30 “Western/Cowboy Albums” as compiled by the Western Music Association, but I’ve been chosen to play on the showcase stage at this November’s WMA convention!! It is only my second convention & my third year in WMA & Western music but here I am going on the showcase stage on Friday November 14, 2014! The convention is held, or should I say, we take over, the downtown Marriott in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is amazing to see the talent & feel the energy of so many incredible musicians. Last year I came away energized & awed at youngsters with 3/4 fiddles playing like they were born with them in their hands. Seems like the whole city showed up for the Friday night show & the Saturday night awards show was something to see. If you want to be immersed in Western music of all styles, come to Albuquerque & take it in! Better yet, come cheer me on at the showcase stage!Click here to leave a reply/comment
Had a great time the last two weekends playing and doing sound at “Movies Under the Stars” in Glade Park, Colorado. Last Sunday night I played and led singing at the Glade Park Bible Church’s summer event “Country Church for Country People”. Very good time honoring a 99 year old resident of the Park for her birthday and hearing the history of the area from storytellers.
Saturday July 12 brings another concert with cowboy poet Terry Nash at the Lazy J Flying M Ranch in Glade Park, Colorado at 7 PM. This is the second of three events at the ranch this summer following an ACTHA competitive trail ride during the day. Terry and I had a great time in June doing this together so we are looking forward to next Saturday.
I have a week off to catch up at home and then the Cowboy Poetry Gathering of the Four Corners is happening from July 30 to August 2nd with a terrific line-up of western performers including yours truly.
Back home for a few days and then I’m off again to the eastern slope of Colorado to sing at two cowboy churches and a special concert in Canon City, Colorado on August 8. I am appearing with cowboy poet and comedian Fred Ellis and western musician Barry McDonald for an event called “An Evening in the West”. I met Fred Ellis at the Grand Junction, Colorado gathering in the fall of 2012 and laughed (LOL!) to his “Cowboy Rap” routine. If you’ve never seen it, come to Canon City on August 8. It is not to be missed!
There is more for August but that can wait for next time or until I update my appearances section on this site, one of many things on the perpetually not finished “to do” list.
Hope y’all had a wonderful and thankful Independence Day. Thank a veteran for keeping that holiday a reality!

BIG CD NEWS!
A Western Way review My 2013 CD “Old Guitar” not only got a favorable review in Rick Huff’s “Best of the West” column in the latest edition of “The Western Way” magazine but it made the “Top 30 Western/Cowboy Albums” chart!! The data for the chart is generated from DJs sending in playlists to the Western Music Association, typically from internet & AM radio. Thank you, DJs!!! Thank you, Rick, for reviewing my CD!! Check it out!!Click here to leave a reply/comment
March 1 is St. David’s Day, the patron saint of Wales. Not WHALES. Wales, as in the country. Nice to write it out instead of explaining mammal vs a part of the British Isles.
I’m picking up on bookings, the most notable this month is GATEWAY COWBOY POETRY NIGHT on March 22 at the Gateway Community Center in Gateway, Colorado. I’ll get a copy of the poster & put it here at first opportunity! This is the 18th annual for this gathering & many good cowboy poets show up as well as musicians. I know that Peggy Malone will be there, as will I, to share our music.
So if you can, come to beautiful Gateway, Colorado on March 22!
Moving into 2014….
Here is some of what I’m doing in the near future…Cortez, Colorado cowboy church with pastor Mark Baker on Monday, February 3 in the evening…looking forward to seeing friends there. February 15 at the End Zone in Fruita, Colorado to continue celebrations of Fruita Fall Festival 25th anniversary with cowboy poetry & music & pie! Yes, PIE! Gateway Cowboy Poetry Gathering on March 22 in Gateway, Colorado to benefit their 4-H, a long-standing tradition. Plus entertaining at 3 trail rides locally in June, July, & August. I also sing at adult living centers, those folks keep me tuned up & on my toes!
I’m selling CDs & getting airplay with some western & indie DJs. I appreciate every minute of that. Some DJs are kind enough to notify me when a song gets airplay. Pretty sweet. See my store on this site if you’d like to listen to snippets & buy a CD!
I felt obliged to update my website since “Merry Christmas” has quickly become outdated. I hate that.
Keep listening & see you down the trail! Deb
